Neko Health secures $700 million Series C as founders prepare for US expansion
The body-scanning startup, which has scanned over 100,000 individuals, is preparing to open its first American location in New York following a significant funding round.

Neko Health, the health assessment and body-scanning startup founded by Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne, has secured $700 million in a Series C funding round. The investment was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and O.G. Venture Partners, with additional participation from Atomico, General Catalyst, Lakestar, Liberty City Ventures, Positive Sum, and BDT & MSD. This latest capital injection follows a $260 million Series B round raised in January 2025, signalling sustained investor confidence in the company’s proprietary technology and market traction.
The company utilises a combination of its own body-scanning hardware, bloodwork analysis, and data from Apple Health to generate health assessments. According to Nilsonne, the integration of Apple Health data provides clinicians with real-world metrics to inform their evaluations. The service has expanded its capabilities to include body composition analysis, targeting gym enthusiasts alongside general health monitoring. To date, Neko Health reports that more than 100,000 people have undergone scans, with a further 350,000 individuals on a waitlist or having booked appointments.
Neko Health currently operates facilities in the United Kingdom and Sweden and is preparing to launch its first United States location in New York. The expansion comes as the company highlights the clinical utility of its scans. Calm founder Alex Tew disclosed on X that a scan identified a malignant mole on his back, which he subsequently had removed. Tew stated he was grateful for the discovery, noting he was unsure how he would have otherwise detected the issue.
The funding news arrives amid growing interest in health technology from major players in the artificial intelligence sector. MidJourney, the AI laboratory known for its image and video creation models, is reportedly developing its own body scanner. The company plans to integrate this technology into a spa experience in San Francisco, scheduled to open in 2027. This development underscores a broader trend of tech founders entering the physical health assessment space.
The new capital will likely support Neko Health’s operational scaling and international expansion. While the company has established a significant user base in Europe, the move into the US market represents a major strategic shift. Investors, including the lead firms Lightspeed and O.G. Venture Partners, are backing the company’s model of combining hardware scanning with digital health data integration.
