Women’s health company Evvy has raised US$40 million in a Series B led by Catalio Capital Management, as it expands research using vaginal microbiome data and enters the fertility market.

Founded in 2021 by Priyanka Jain, Laine Bruzek and Pita Navarro, Evvy offers an at-home metagenomic next-generation sequencing test based on a mailed vaginal swab. Results are reviewed by clinicians on the company’s platform and made available through a patient health portal.

Evvy says it serves more than 100,000 patients in the United States and works with 3,000 practitioners. The company also says it has produced 15 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts, identified new bacterial vaginosis subtypes and found hundreds of previously uncatalogued vaginal microbiome genomes.

The company is compiling data on potential links between vaginal microbiomes and infertility, gynaecological cancer, preterm birth, IVF success and recurrent pregnancy loss. Evvy conducted a prospective study using its tests in IVF clinics last year, but the relationships it is investigating remain under study.

Evvy launched its EvvyAI assistant in May. The company describes the tool as a source of real-time vaginal health guidance that directs users to clinicians when questions require expert input. It is not a substitute for clinical expertise.

Evvy says its longer-term aim is an at-home, non-invasive test that could provide broader insights into infections, inflammation, fertility and other conditions. The company’s claims about its patient base, research output and scientific discoveries have not been independently verified.
