Tate brothers arrested in Miami as UK adds rape, trafficking charges
Crown Prosecution Service adds rape and trafficking counts as total alleged victims rise to seven

Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami, Florida, on Sunday pursuant to a sealed warrant, the United States Marshals Service confirmed. The detention marks a significant escalation in the legal proceedings against the dual US-UK citizens, as the British government prepares to seek their extradition on new charges including rape and sex trafficking.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced Sunday that it will prosecute Andrew Tate, 39, on seven counts of rape, three counts of sex trafficking, three counts of assault, and 19 additional charges relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. His brother, Tristan Tate, 38, faces one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.

These new allegations bring the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven, an increase from the previous 21 charges relating to three victims. The CPS stated that the offending is alleged to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. Both brothers deny the charges brought against them.

The arrest follows a complex legal history involving multiple jurisdictions. The brothers fled Romania after being arrested in 2022, where they face separate, unrelated charges including rape and human trafficking. In 2024, Bedfordshire Police secured European arrest warrants to return the pair from Romania, and in May 2025, prosecutors confirmed a list of 21 charges relating to offences alleged between 2012 and 2016.

The case has drawn international attention, with the brothers gaining notoriety online for displaying a lavish lifestyle and behaviour often deemed offensive. In 2025, a White House official intervened after US Customs and Border Protection officials seized the brothers' electronic devices, though details of this intervention remain limited. The UK government intends to proceed with extradition proceedings to bring the brothers to trial in Britain.
