Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to activate collective deterrence measures in response to Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, Al Jazeera reported on 5 October.

Al Jazeera’s headline describes the agreement as a military deployment to Saudi Arabia. Its report, however, provides no details confirming that troops have deployed or setting out the timing, scale or terms of any deployment.

A separate account of a Pakistan Foreign Ministry statement says the countries agreed to provide forces and capabilities for rapid deployment to Saudi Arabia. It attributes the response to the Mecca Alliance’s collective deterrence measures.

The available excerpt of the ministry statement is incomplete. The reported agreement and plans for rapid deployment therefore do not establish that forces are already on the ground.
