The New York Yankees made three errors in the first inning of their American League Division Series Game 2 against the Tampa Bay Rays, helping the hosts take a 1–0 lead. CBS Sports reported the errors marked the first time New York had made three in one inning during a postseason game.

Third baseman Ryan McMahon misplayed a ground ball from leadoff hitter Yandy Díaz. After Jonathan Aranda singled, Jazz Chisholm Jr. sent a throw wide of first on a ground ball, allowing Díaz to score.

A third error came when catcher Austin Wells was called for interference after Liam Hicks’ bat contacted his mitt on a pitch. The call put Hicks on base after what had appeared to be a strikeout.

The inning also included a failed double-play attempt: Chisholm’s feed pulled rookie George Lombard Jr. off second base. CBS Sports described the play as a defensive mistake, but not an error.

Schlittler ended the inning after Tampa Bay recorded six outs and scored once. The supplied account does not establish the final score or result of the game.
