Ravens rule out Zay Flowers for Saints game
Baltimore will be without Zay Flowers and Ja’Kobi Lane against New Orleans, testing the depth of Lamar Jackson’s receiving group.
The Baltimore Ravens have ruled out Pro Bowl wide receiver Zay Flowers for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints because of a left hamstring injury, according to a report from The Sporting News published by Yahoo Sports.
Flowers aggravated the injury during Baltimore’s 41–23 season-opening win over the Indianapolis Colts. He missed the Ravens’ first two practices of the week, returned to limited training on Friday and was downgraded from doubtful to out on Saturday.
His absence leaves Baltimore without two of its top three receivers, with Ja’Kobi Lane also unavailable while on injured reserve with a wrist injury. The report said Flowers had recorded 91 receptions for 1,361 yards over his previous 18 games, compared with 55 catches for 814 yards combined among Baltimore’s other wide receivers during that period.
Rashod Bateman, LaJohntay Wester, Devontez Walker, Elijah Sarratt and Chris Moore could receive increased opportunities against New Orleans. The extent of Flowers’ injury and his recovery timeline have not been stated.
Baltimore also placed cornerback T.J. Tampa on injured reserve with a knee injury. Left tackle Ronnie Stanley remains questionable with a toe injury, and Carson Vinson could make his first career start if Stanley is unavailable.
