In England, Arsenal lost 3–0 to Brighton and Tottenham were beaten 3–2 by Aston Villa. Barcelona maintained a perfect La Liga start with a 3–1 comeback win over Sevilla, while Real Madrid were due to face Atlético Madrid.
In Italy, Roma and Inter drew 2–2, with Manu Koné and Lautaro Martínez scoring twice each. France also exited the Davis Cup after a 3–1 defeat by Canada.
