The New England Patriots hope wide receiver A.J. Brown can return as soon as Week 6, when he becomes eligible to come off injured reserve. NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo said the timing remains unconfirmed.

Brown suffered a high ankle sprain in New England’s Week 1 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and was placed on injured reserve shortly afterwards, requiring him to miss at least four games.

He made three catches for 26 yards before leaving the opener. His eligibility in Week 6 does not confirm he will be ready to play by then.

The Patriots’ hoped-for timeframe was reported by Yahoo Sports, citing Garafolo. No confirmed return date or roster move was included in the report.
