Daryz retains Arc title, first colt to do so since Alleged

Sky Sports reports Daryz won the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at ParisLongchamp for a second consecutive season, ahead of Bay City Roller and Diamond Necklace.

Daryz has retained the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, winning the ParisLongchamp race for a second successive season, according to Sky Sports.

The report describes him as the first colt since Alleged in 1978 to defend the title. Alleged won in both 1977 and 1978.

Bay City Roller finished second, with Diamond Necklace third. The top two repeated their order from the Prix Foy trial, where Daryz had beaten Bay City Roller.

Mickael Barzalona rode Daryz, who is trained by Francis-Henri Graffard. Diamond Necklace, trained by Aidan O’Brien, finished third from stall 16.
