Djokovic extends Beijing record to reach China Open semi-finals

A 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Alexander Zverev took Djokovic to 32 unbeaten matches at the tournament, according to Sky Sports.

Novak Djokovic came back from a set down to beat Alexander Zverev 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 at the China Open in Beijing, advancing to a semi-final against Daniil Medvedev.

The result extended Djokovic’s unbeaten run at the tournament to 32 matches, surpassing Rafael Nadal’s 31-match start at the French Open for the best start at a single tour-level event in the Open Era, Sky Sports reported.

Zverev took the opening set, but Djokovic levelled the match with a break at 5-4 in the second. He secured another break at 5-4 in the third to close out the win.

Djokovic is a six-time China Open champion and returned this year for the first time since 2015. He is seeking his first title of the year.

Medvedev reached the semi-final by defeating Francisco Cerundolo 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.
