Olise’s late strike puts France top of Nations League group
A goal in the 88th minute secured a 1–0 win over Belgium and left France with six points from two Group A1 matches, Al Jazeera reports.
France moved to the top of UEFA Nations League Group A1 with a 1–0 win over Belgium in Brussels, sealed by Michael Olise’s goal in the 88th minute.
Al Jazeera reports that Olise came on in the 77th minute and carried the ball from inside his own half before curling a shot into the bottom-left corner.
France had struck the woodwork twice before the late goal, through Désiré Doué in the first half and Lucas Da Cunha after the break.
The result was Zinedine Zidane’s second win in his first two matches as France coach. France opened with a 1–0 victory over Türkiye and now have six points, three clear of Belgium and Italy, according to Al Jazeera. Italy beat Türkiye 4–1 on Monday.
France are due to host Italy on Friday, then play Belgium next Monday. Captain Kylian Mbappé missed the match after returning to Real Madrid for treatment on a left-knee injury.
