Five men bailed as police investigate suspected plot near US-used UK airbase

Five men arrested near an airbase used by the United States have been released on bail, British police said on Monday. Officers are continuing to investigate a suspected bomb plot.
Police are also examining whether a foreign state may have been involved. The report does not identify a state or establish that any foreign actor was involved.
Yan Saint-Pierre, chief executive of Modern Security Consulting Group, told France 24 that the case fits a pattern of hybrid warfare incidents seen in the past two months.
Saint-Pierre said such cases can involve local nationals, with foreign actors adding layers intended to complicate investigations and the identification of those responsible. That is his assessment, not a finding by police.
The men’s identities and the airbase’s name were not provided. Their release on bail does not amount to a finding of guilt.
