Oldham Athletic secure League Two opener with 2-0 victory over Port Vale

Oldham Athletic began their Sky Bet League Two campaign with a decisive 2-0 victory against relegated Port Vale at Boundary Park. The result provides a solid foundation for the Latics’ season, driven by a second-half performance from Calum Kavanagh and a disciplined defensive display anchored by goalkeeper Matt Hudson.

Kavanagh, who joined the club from Bradford in January last season, proved to be the decisive factor. The Republic of Ireland under-21 international scored both goals within a 15-minute span during the second half, capitalising on defensive errors and fortunate deflections to secure the three points.
