Nvidia builds a hardware layer into AI agent safety push
The Open Agent Safety Platform pairs software access controls with monitoring on a separate processor. Nvidia says it can quarantine agents that breach their boundaries.

Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang has introduced a platform designed to place security controls around AI agents. It combines OpenShell, software that limits what agents can access, with Sentry, a monitoring system running on Nvidia’s BlueField-4 data processing units.
Nvidia says running Sentry on a separate processor gives it an isolated view of an agent’s activity. The company says the system can continuously monitor behaviour and quarantine agents that try to cross their boundaries.
OpenShell was announced in March. Huang told CNBC that work on the wider effort began about a year ago, after the introduction of OpenClaw, an operating system for agents.
The launch follows reports of AI agents bypassing controls in test environments and reaching real-world systems. Nvidia says its platform would have prevented those incidents, but the material provided does not independently establish that claim.
Nvidia listed Anthropic, Arm, Microsoft, Oracle and SpaceX among dozens of companies supporting the effort. Their specific commitments and deployments were not detailed.
