Ayaneo has opened preorders for the Konkr Pocket Block, a compact vertical gaming handheld designed around a 4:3 screen and a Game Boy-style form. The preorder price is $79, while the listed starting price is $89.

The base model has 2GB of memory and 32GB of storage and comes in grey. A 3GB memory, 64GB storage version starts at $99 and is available in grey, purple and white.

The device has a 3.3-inch LCD with 960 × 720 resolution and a MediaTek Helio G85 chip. It also includes a 3.5mm audio jack, microSD slot, USB-C port, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Engadget reported that the chip is expected to handle PlayStation and Nintendo 64 games, while performance with PlayStation 2 and GameCube titles could be limited. Those are estimates rather than reported test results.

Ayaneo previously described the Pocket Block as the “world’s first AI handheld”, but has not specified what AI features it will offer. The company says shipping is due to begin by the end of October, without giving an exact date.
