All-Star pitcher Foster Griffin and shortstop C.J. Abrams are attracting significant interest from other teams. Griffin, who signed a one-year, $5.5 million deal this past offseason, has posted an 11-2 record with a 2.68 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 117 ⅓ innings. However, extension talks between the Nationals and Griffin have fizzled quickly, according to the New York Post, leaving the club open to trading the 30-year-old right-hander.
In New York, the Mets are identified as one of the few clear sellers in the league. Outfielder Juan Soto has been placed on the injured list with a calf strain described as more significant than his previous injury earlier this season. The Mets expect Soto to be out for at least three weeks, though his absence does not alter the team’s status as sellers, as he was not expected to be on the trade block regardless.
Speculation surrounding the Mets’ roster includes pitchers Freddy Peralta, Clay Holmes, A.J. Minter, and Luke Weaver, alongside shortstop Francisco Lindor. Meanwhile, the Oakland Athletics have signed veteran left-hander Dallas Keuchel to a minor-league deal. Keuchel, 38, has not pitched in the majors since a four-start stint with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2024 and spent 2025 in Triple-A with the Kansas City Royals organisation.
