NASA to Showcase Earth Science Research at IGARSS 2026
Presentations scheduled for 10 to 12 August will cover the NISAR mission, mineral resource discovery, and environmental monitoring platforms.
NASA experts will present Earth science research and technology at the 2026 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS). The agency’s presentations are scheduled to take place in the Exhibit Hall at Booth #100, utilising the Hyperwall for storytelling and data visualisation.
The schedule runs from Monday, 10 August to Wednesday, 12 August 2026. Topics covered include new Earth missions, environmental monitoring platforms, mineral resource discovery, satellite ocean observations, and updates on the NISAR mission.
On Monday, 10 August, Mike Seablom will present "Technology Enabling the Future of Earth Science" at 3:00 PM. This will be followed at 3:15 PM by Karen St. Germain, who will discuss "Discovery Earth: New Missions & Technical Innovation Advancing Earth System Insights."
Tuesday, 11 August, features a series of presentations starting at 10:00 AM with Mike Taylor on "STELLA: Open-Source Multisenor Platforms For Real-Time Environmental Monitoring." At 10:15 AM, Dan Lindsey will address "NOAA Geostationary Satellites: Valuable Data for both Research and Operational Use."
The afternoon session on Tuesday begins at 3:00 PM with Robert O. Green presenting "Discovering Mineral Resources with NASA Imaging Spectroscopy." Paul Chang will follow at 3:15 PM with a talk on "The Importance of Satellite Ocean Observations at NOAA."
On Wednesday, 12 August, Joel Scott will present "Enabling Earth Science Data to Serve Society" at 10:00 AM. Shannon Brown will speak at 10:15 AM on "Microwaving the Solar System."
The final sessions of the day include "NISAR Updates, One Year After Launch" presented by Paul Rosen and Marco Lavalle at 3:00 PM. The schedule concludes at 3:15 PM with Lauren Leese presenting on the "Office of the Chief Science Data Officer: Data Driven Exploration."
