Joe Brady faces pressure to take Josh Allen and Buffalo Bills to Super Bowl
Sky Sports analysts say Buffalo’s new head coach must turn sustained regular-season success into a Super Bowl appearance after repeated playoff defeats.
Joe Brady enters his first season as Buffalo Bills head coach under pressure to lead Josh Allen’s team to Super Bowl 61, according to Sky Sports analysts.
Brady was promoted from offensive coordinator after Sean McDermott was fired following nine seasons in charge. The change follows a run of playoff disappointments, including four Divisional Round exits and two AFC Championship Game defeats since 2020.
Buffalo’s latest campaign ended with an overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in January’s Divisional Round. Despite recording 73 wins since 2020 — more than any other team in the league during that period — the Bills have not converted that regular-season record into a Super Bowl appearance.
The Bills have strengthened Allen’s attacking options by trading for Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore, although Moore has not recorded a 1,000-yard season since 2023. Sky Sports analyst Phoebe Schecter said the move could elevate an offence that has lacked a star receiver.
Defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard is another central figure in Buffalo’s campaign. Sky Sports analyst Jeff Reinebold said Leonhard’s ability to improve a new-look defence will be critical to the team’s prospects.
Buffalo begins its 2026 season against the Houston Texans, with coverage on Sky Sports NFL. Super Bowl 61 is scheduled for 14 February 2027.
