Pavic claims first Grand Slam title as Hungary finals close in Budapest
Petrunjela Pavic joined four other gold medallists on the final day of competition at Budapest’s Papp László Arena.
The Hungary Grand Slam concluded in Budapest with Guilherme Schimidt, Petrunjela Pavic, Gennaro Pirelli, Raz Hershko and Valerii Endovitskii winning gold in their respective divisions.
Schimidt took the men’s −90kg title, securing his third Grand Slam victory after previously competing in the −81kg category. Pavic defeated Japan’s Mao Izumi in the women’s −78kg final to claim her first Grand Slam gold.
Pirelli won the men’s −100kg division for a second consecutive Grand Slam title. In the women’s +78kg final, Hershko defeated France’s Celia Cancan to secure her seventh Grand Slam gold.
Endovitskii won the men’s +100kg final for his fourth Grand Slam gold. The finals were held on the third and final day of the event at the Papp László Arena.
Yahoo Sports reported that the next major competition referenced after Budapest is the World Championships in Baku.
