Harry Brook’s century drives England to dominant T20I win
Brook’s unbeaten 114 helped England defeat Sri Lanka by 119 runs in Southampton, while reaching a significant three-format milestone.
Harry Brook’s unbeaten 114 from 49 balls has powered England to a 119-run victory over Sri Lanka in the first T20I in Southampton.
Brook struck 10 fours and six sixes as England reached 254 for four. Sri Lanka were dismissed for 135 in 19 overs, leaving England with a comprehensive opening win.
The innings also moved Brook alongside Jos Buttler as the second Englishman to record multiple international centuries in all three formats. Brook’s reported tally now stands at two T20I centuries, 10 Test centuries and three ODI centuries.
Ben Stokes praised Brook’s ability in a post on X, comparing his talent favourably with Kevin Pietersen. Stokes later clarified that both players were “freak talents”, while maintaining his preference for Brook.
Brook’s recent record at No. 3 in T20Is has also been strong. He has reportedly scored 476 runs in eight innings in the position, including two centuries and two fifties, at an average of 95.20 and a strike rate of 200.84.
