Italy rebound as France secure late Nations League win
Italy beat Türkiye 4-1 in Bursa while Michael Olise’s 88th-minute goal gave France a 1-0 win over Belgium.
Italy returned to contention in Nations League Group A1 with a 4-1 win over Türkiye in Bursa, responding to their opening defeat to Belgium. The result came as France, described by France 24 International as group leaders, edged Belgium 1-0 in Brussels.
Italy scored three times in the first half. Türkiye pulled one back through Barış Yılmaz in the 47th minute, but Pio Esposito headed in five minutes later to restore Italy’s three-goal lead.
In Brussels, Michael Olise scored in the 88th minute after both sides had missed chances. The win was Zinedine Zidane’s second in his first two matches as France coach.
Italy are due to visit France on Friday, according to the report. Coach Roberto Mancini said the team would focus on recovering before the match in Paris.
Elsewhere, Sweden beat Poland 3-1, Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Romania 4-2, and Northern Ireland drew 0-0 with Hungary.
