FanDuel Odds Favour Georgia and Texas for 2026 SEC Championship
Georgia and Texas emerge as primary contenders in the latest betting markets, while LSU’s new head coach faces a long road to the title.
FanDuel Sportsbook has released its odds for the 2026 SEC Championship, positioning the Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns as the clear favourites. The betting board, published on 17 August, reflects the conference’s shifting power dynamics following recent realignments and coaching changes.
Georgia enters the season as the primary favourite at +260, a status reinforced by their 2025 SEC Championship victory over Alabama. The Bulldogs have won three of the past four conference titles and secured their most recent championship with a 28-7 win last December. Their 7-1 record in SEC play during the 2025 season underscores their consistency in the division.
Texas follows closely as the second favourite at +310. Since joining the SEC in 2024, the Longhorns have compiled a 13-4 record in conference play, including a loss to Georgia in the 2024 championship game. Under head coach Steve Sarkisian, Texas previously won the Big 12 title in 2023 and now fields quarterback Arch Manning, who is considered a Heisman contender.
LSU is listed at +900, marking them as a significant longshot despite the high-profile appointment of Lane Kiffin as head coach. Kiffin departed Ole Miss in November to take over the LSU program, bringing with him the nation’s top-ranked transfer portal class. The transfer group is headlined by quarterback Sam Leavitt, who led Arizona State to a Big 12 title and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024, throwing for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns.
The departure of Kiffin has reshaped the landscape at Ole Miss, where defensive coordinator Pete Golding has been promoted to head coach. The Rebels have retained key offensive talent, including quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy. Chambliss, who threw for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2025, was granted an additional year of eligibility.
LSU and Ole Miss are scheduled to face each other in Week 3, presenting Kiffin with an immediate test against his former program. While other contenders such as Alabama and Texas A&M are listed at +800, and Ole Miss at +1150, the odds suggest a two-horse race between Georgia and Texas for the conference crown.
