Ducks agree six-year, US$81 million extension for Cutter Gauthier
Anaheim has reportedly secured its leading scorer through the 2031–32 season in a deal worth US$13.5 million a year.
The Anaheim Ducks have reportedly agreed to a six-year, US$81 million contract extension with left wing Cutter Gauthier, according to Yahoo Sports and USA TODAY. The deal would keep the 2022 fifth overall draft pick with Anaheim through the 2031–32 NHL season, with an average annual value of US$13.5 million.
Gauthier led the Ducks last season with 41 goals and 69 points. His production coincided with Anaheim’s reported return to the playoffs for the first time since 2018, ending an eight-year postseason drought.
Philadelphia selected Gauthier fifth overall in 2022 before Anaheim acquired him in early 2024 in a trade involving defenceman Jamie Drysdale and a 2025 second-round pick.
The reported agreement was finalised in the final hours of the previous NHL collective bargaining agreement. The new agreement reportedly allows teams to offer up to seven years when re-signing players and six years to free agents.
