Texas A&M enters SEC opener as heavy favourite against Kentucky
The ninth-ranked Aggies will host Kentucky at Kyle Field on 19 September, with early markets and ESPN Analytics favouring Texas A&M.
Ninth-ranked Texas A&M will open its SEC schedule against Kentucky at Kyle Field in College Station on Saturday 19 September. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT, with the game set to be broadcast on ESPN.
The Aggies enter the Week 3 meeting with a 2-0 record after defeating Missouri State 50-0 and Arizona State 48-20. Kentucky is 1-1 and has already begun conference play, losing to Alabama last week.
Texas A&M, coached by Mike Elko and led at quarterback by Marcel Reed, is listed as a 17-point favourite in early BetMGM lines. The reported moneyline has Texas A&M at -800 and Kentucky at +600, with the over-under set at 50½ points.
Published projections also point towards a substantial Texas A&M advantage. Ryan Black of the Louisville Courier-Journal predicted a 38-10 Aggies win, while ESPN’s Bill Connelly projected a 36-16 result. ESPN Analytics assigned Texas A&M a 93.5 per cent chance of winning. The lines and projections may change before kick-off.
Kentucky is led by new head coach Will Stein and quarterback Kenny Minchey. The teams have met only once since Texas A&M joined the SEC, with the Aggies winning 20-14 in overtime in 2018.
