Devin Carter has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Boston Celtics and will compete for an opening-night roster place or a two-way contract during training camp.
The agreement was reported by HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto and covered by NESN. Its terms, length and financial details have not been disclosed, and neither the Celtics nor the NBA has provided confirmation.
Carter, 24, was reportedly waived by the Atlanta Hawks last week. He was selected 13th overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 2024 NBA Draft after playing at South Carolina and Providence, where he won Big East Player of the Year in 2024.
Across two NBA seasons, Carter has averaged 6.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He has shot 40.1 per cent from the field and 27.4 per cent from three-point range.
The defensive-minded guard’s outside shooting and durability remain questions. He played 36 games as a rookie and 38 in his second season, and his final status with Boston will depend on his training-camp competition.
