Darby leads five fighters to UFC contracts at Contender Series

Adam Darby has joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster after a decisive performance at Dana White's Contender Series 2026 Week 4. The Irish welterweight, who holds the Cage Warriors title, defeated Patrick Rivera via a third-round technical knockout at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Darby, making his first appearance on American soil, leveraged his 6-foot-3 frame to control the distance against the shorter Rivera. By the end of the second round, Rivera’s face was bloodied, prompting a doctor’s check that resulted in the fight being waived off. The victory improves Darby’s professional record to 8-1.

Five fighters earned UFC contracts from the event, a pathway that serves as a primary mechanism for the promotion to identify new talent. Alongside Darby, Modestino Rodrigues, Silvestre Sanchez, and Gabriel Lorenco were also awarded deals, although the identity of the fifth recipient was not specified in the initial reports.

Rodrigues delivered the night’s most rapid finish, stopping Brandon Holmes in under 15 seconds with a right hand. The win marked his ninth consecutive professional knockout, improving his record to 8-1. UFC CEO Dana White described the stoppage as one of the worst he had ever seen but noted it was not Rodrigues’ fault before confirming the contract.

In the lightweight division, Silvestre Sanchez defeated Liam McCraken in the third round. Sanchez maintained steady pressure in both grappling and striking, eventually breaking down McCraken before a left hook secured the finish.

Gabriel Lorenco also impressed in the heavyweight division, entering the bout as a +185 underdog. He stopped Charlie Cleveland at the 2:02 mark of the first round after dropping his opponent with a wide punch and continuing to apply damage.
