Burrow leads CBS Sports’ 2026 NFL award predictions
Joe Burrow is the leading MVP pick as CBS Sports experts nominate favourites across the major individual awards.

Joe Burrow has emerged as the leading choice for the 2026 NFL Most Valuable Player award in CBS Sports’ preseason predictions, retaining the position for a second consecutive year. The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback’s case is built on his previous production and a potential return to form after injury.
Burrow led the league in passing yards and touchdowns in 2024, while team improvement could strengthen his candidacy. Ja’Marr Chase is the leading pick for Offensive Player of the Year after winning the receiving triple crown in 2024.
Houston Texans pass-rusher Will Anderson Jr. was the overwhelmingly favoured selection for Defensive Player of the Year. Anderson recorded 12 sacks in 2025 and led the NFL in pressures and hurries.
Notre Dame running back Jeremiah Love was among the leading Offensive Rookie of the Year choices, despite suffering a high ankle sprain during the preseason. The defensive rookie prediction was closer, with Texas Tech pass-rusher David Bailey and Miami pass-rusher Simeon “C.J.” Bain at the centre of the debate.
Patrick Mahomes was the most popular choice for Comeback Player of the Year as he returns from a torn ACL. The three-time Super Bowl MVP’s Kansas City Chiefs were coming off a 6–11 season. Detroit Lions tackle Penei Sewell was the dominant selection for Protector of the Year.
The predictions, published by CBS Sports ahead of the 2026 season, are expert forecasts rather than confirmed results. The coaching award vote was widely dispersed, with no clear overall favourite identified.
