Carlota Ciganda delivered the decisive point as Team Europe reclaimed the Solheim Cup from the United States, defeating Jennifer Kupcho 4 and 2 in Sunday’s singles at Bernardus Golf in Den Bosch.

Ciganda birdied four of the first five holes to move four up before completing a controlled victory. The teams had been level at 8–8 before the singles.

The result reversed the momentum from Saturday, when Kupcho overturned their fourballs match with long putts on the 17th and 18th holes. Ciganda said she was pleased to learn Kupcho would be her singles opponent.

“Today I knew she had no chance,” Ciganda said, describing the comment in the sporting context of their contest. “I love beating the Americans.”

Ciganda had also scored Europe’s decisive point in Spain three years earlier. Yahoo Sports reported that her latest win put Europe beyond the winning target and secured the cup for the European team.
