Buccaneers’ early numbers raise questions about offensive fit

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not found consistent production through three games. The team is averaging 279.3 yards per game, has allowed 13 sacks and converted 14 of 43 third-down attempts, according to Yahoo Sports.
The problems were pronounced against Minnesota. Baker Mayfield was sacked six times and hit 12 times as Tampa Bay converted two of 17 third downs. Penalties also erased opportunities, including an 85-yard touchdown pass to Chris Godwin.
A drive that reached the Minnesota three-yard line ended in a field goal after consecutive holding penalties. Another holding call wiped out Godwin’s long touchdown, while a separate penalty erased a Mayfield first-down scramble.
Yahoo Sports’ account questions whether Robinson’s wide-zone, motion and play-action concepts are suited to the players available. It argues the offence needs ways to reduce pressure, including quicker throws and moving pockets, while also faulting Mayfield for holding the ball too long on some plays and leaving the pocket on others.
Red-zone production is another concern: Tampa Bay entered Week 3 converting 37.5 per cent of its red-zone possessions into touchdowns. Against Minnesota, the Buccaneers gained two yards after an interception gave them possession at the Vikings’ 22-yard line and settled for a field goal.
Three games provide an early measure, not a verdict on Robinson’s tenure. The figures and repeated protection breakdowns nevertheless leave the coaching staff with questions about how the scheme and personnel can work together.
