Florida’s results push it back into CBS Sports top 10
A 52–28 win over Ole Miss and a 2–0 SEC start lifted Florida 14 places over two weeks, while Texas and Georgia hold the top two spots.
Florida has returned to the top 10 of CBS Sports’ weekly college football rankings after beating Ole Miss 52–28. The Gators have risen 14 places over two weeks and are 2–0 in SEC play.
The CBS Sports 138 combines ballots from CBS Sports and 247Sports contributors. Florida’s climb reflects a ranking process increasingly focused on results on the field as conference play gets underway.
Texas remains first and Georgia second, but contributor ballots show a close contest for the top position. Texas has an average ranking of 1.4, compared with 1.9 for Georgia, and CBS Sports reports no consensus among contributors on which team should lead.
The rankings also reflect weaker performances by teams that began the season with high expectations. Texas A&M and Oklahoma, both previously in the CBS Sports 138 top 10, have fallen outside the top 35.
