San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa is expected to miss multiple weeks with a calf injury sustained at practice, according to CBS Sports, citing NFL Network. He is set to miss this week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday practices.

The 49ers are reportedly leaning against placing Bosa on injured reserve, but have not made a final decision. CBS Sports reports the team has eight injured reserve return slots and must weigh how to use them across its roster.

An injured reserve placement would sideline Bosa for at least four games under league policy, CBS Sports reported. The report does not give a confirmed return date or a precise estimate for how long he will be out.

The injury adds to San Francisco’s defensive line absences. CBS Sports reports the club recently signed defensive linemen Naquan Jones and Viliami Fehoko Jr. to its practice squad and promoted Ogbo Okoronkwo to the active roster.
