Aston Villa are actively negotiating to sign AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori, a move that would serve as a direct replacement for Ezri Konsa. The transfer activity comes as Konsa’s departure to Arsenal edges closer to completion, creating an urgent need for defensive reinforcement at Villa Park.

According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, Tomori is open to a move to the Premier League and is understood to prefer a transfer to Aston Villa over other potential destinations. Talks between the two clubs are already underway, with the Italian side seeking a fee in the region of €10m to €15m.

AC Milan intends to reinvest any funds received from a potential sale of Tomori into the signing of a replacement centre-back. The defender is one of several players, including Youssouf Fofana, who have been informed that they are free to leave the club under manager Ruben Amorim this summer.

Meanwhile, the impending exit of Ezri Konsa is driven by Arsenal’s need to address long-term defensive absences. The Gunners have agreed a fee reported at over €50m for the England international, a sum intended to cover for the unavailability of William Saliba and Jurrien Timber.

Konsa has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal and is expected to complete his move in the coming days. This development has prompted Aston Villa to explore the market for a suitable replacement, with the next few days expected to be decisive regarding the Tomori negotiations.

While manager Unai Emery’s side is still evaluating other defensive targets, the focus remains on securing a permanent solution to the vacancy left by Konsa. The convergence of these two transfer moves highlights the significant financial and tactical shifts occurring in the defensive market this summer.
