Apple unveils first foldable iPhone, iPhone Duo
Apple’s iPhone Duo has dual displays, the A20 Pro chip and iOS 27, with pre-orders scheduled to open on 16 October.
Apple has introduced iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, featuring a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display. The company says the device is designed to provide a larger screen for viewing, gaming and multitasking while remaining pocketable when closed.
The phone is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip and uses a dual-battery architecture. Apple says iPhone Duo includes a precision hinge, titanium construction, an IP68 rating, Touch ID and an eSIM-only design. It will be available in star white and night sky.
The device has a 48MP main camera and supports 4K video recording at up to 120 frames per second, according to Apple. Its folding design also supports features including split-screen multitasking and camera use while the phone is propped open.
iPhone Duo runs iOS 27, which Apple has adapted for the two displays. The software includes revised navigation, app controls and multitasking features, while Apple says third-party applications including Netflix, Zoom and Slack are being adapted for the folding design.
Apple also says iPhone Duo will support Siri AI and other Apple Intelligence features. Siri AI is rolling out in beta through iOS 27, with availability of Apple Intelligence features dependent on compatible devices, software, languages and regional rollout.
