2026 Little League World Series commences in Williamsport with international field confirmed
Ten U.S. and ten international teams begin double-elimination play in Pennsylvania, with broadcast rights held by ESPN and ABC.
The 2026 Little League World Series officially commenced on 19 August in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, bringing together 10 U.S. teams and 10 international squads for the annual championship tournament. The event, which runs until a single champion is crowned on 30 August, utilises a double-elimination format within separate U.S. and international brackets to determine the finalists.
The international field includes representatives from diverse regions, such as Ryde from the Australia region in Sydney, Seoul from the Asia-Pacific region, Vancouver from the Canada region, and teams from the Caribbean, Curacao, Europe and Africa, Japan, Latin America, Mexico, and Panama. U.S. participants include Hamilton from the Great Lakes region in Ohio, Bayonne from the Metro region in New Jersey, and West Chester from the Mid-Atlantic region in Pennsylvania, alongside representatives from the Midwest, Mountain, New England, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest, and West regions.
Competition began with four games each on Wednesday and Thursday, pitting teams against opponents from opposing brackets. The tournament structure ensures that only two teams from each bracket will advance to the regional championship games on 29 August. The winners of those matches will meet in the final championship game on 30 August, while the losers of the semifinals will contest a third-place game.
Broadcast coverage for the majority of the tournament is managed by ESPN, with select bracket play games airing on ESPN2. The U.S. and international championship games, along with the final championship match, are scheduled to air on ABC. All game times are listed in Eastern Daylight Time, with the initial schedule featuring matchups such as Latin America versus the Caribbean and Australia versus Mexico.
A notable highlight in the mid-tournament schedule is the MLB Little League Classic on 23 August, featuring the Atlanta Braves against the Milwaukee Brewers. While specific opponents for games scheduled from 21 August onwards remain to be announced, the framework for the remainder of the competition is established, with further games set to air across the ESPN networks through to the conclusion of the event.
