Zverev and Shelton set for US Open final with history at stake

Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton are scheduled to meet in the US Open men's singles final at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York on Sunday.
Zverev is seeking his second major title after reportedly winning the French Open earlier this year. The final is expected to be his sixth at a Grand Slam tournament.
Shelton reached his first major final after defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals and fellow American Frances Tiafoe in the semi-finals. Victory would deliver his first Grand Slam title and eighth career singles crown.
The match also carries a broader national milestone. Shelton could become the first American man since 2003 to win the US Open men's singles title.
According to CBS Sports, Zverev leads Shelton 5–0 across their six career meetings, including four victories in 2025. Bookmakers have installed Zverev as the favourite, with Shelton listed as the underdog.
The final is scheduled for 2pm ET in New York.
