Yankees Activate Rodón for Orioles Start Amid Pitch Count Restrictions
Carlos Rodón is set to face the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night, with management expected to limit his workload following recent rehabilitation starts for Somerset.

The New York Yankees have confirmed that pitcher Carlos Rodón will return from the injured list to start against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night. The left-hander, who has been sidelined since June 28 with left elbow inflammation, is scheduled to pitch in the first game of the upcoming three-game series.
Rodón’s return follows a rehabilitation stint with the Somerset Patriots, where he completed two recent starts. In his most recent outing on August 13, he struck out seven batters over 4.1 shutout innings, allowing only two hits while operating under a 58-pitch limit. Consequently, the Yankees are expected to impose a restrictive pitch count for his return to the major league rotation.
Prior to his current injury, Rodón had posted a 3.30 earned run average across nine starts and 46 innings. His season was previously abbreviated by offseason elbow surgery, delaying his debut until May 10 in Milwaukee. The Yankees’ pitching staff is currently regarded as the best in the league, and Rodón’s availability adds significant depth to the rotation.
The roster shuffle resulting from Rodón’s activation remains uncertain. Will Warren is identified as the most likely candidate to be removed from the starting rotation, having been outpitched by Ryan Weathers over the summer. To manage Rodón’s workload, the Yankees may implement a piggyback setup involving Warren, who would have been on full rest for the Tuesday game.
While the Yankees are reportedly seeking offensive reinforcements, the addition of a healthy Rodón is viewed as a critical stabilising factor for the team’s performance. His return offers the potential for a formidable rotation, provided he can replicate the effectiveness he demonstrated before his June injury.
