Yahoo Sports ranks top MLB catchers as 2026 season enters week 11
Major League Baseball’s catching corps shows mixed fortunes as the 2026 campaign reaches its eleventh week, with standout offensive performances offset by significant injury setbacks for key players.

Yahoo Sports has released its power rankings for the top 10 Major League Baseball catchers as the 2026 season enters its eleventh week. The report identifies Oakland Athletics catcher Langeliers as the leading offensive performer, topping the league in hits and home runs. Miami Marlins catcher Hicks leads in runs batted in (RBIs), while Milwaukee Brewers catcher Contreras ranks third in on-base percentage. The rankings also account for injury setbacks for Atlanta Braves catcher Baldwin and Minnesota Twins catcher Jeffers, alongside performance metrics for other notable catchers including Detroit’s Dingler, Baltimore’s Rutschman and Basallo, Kansas City’s Perez, and an unnamed catcher Goodman.
Langeliers has established himself as the most productive catcher in the league, leading MLB catchers in hits, at-bats, home runs, total bases, and slugging percentage. His performance has been a driving force for the Athletics, providing consistent offensive output through a high volume of extra-base hits. This statistical dominance places him at the forefront of the position as the season progresses.
In the National League, Hicks has emerged as a key contributor for the Miami Marlins, leading all MLB catchers in RBIs and hitting double-digit home runs. His consistent production has positioned him as a front-runner for an All-Star selection. Meanwhile, Contreras has anchored the Milwaukee Brewers’ offense, leading the team in RBIs and ranking third among MLB catchers in on-base percentage, helping the Brewers maintain their standing at the top of the National League Central.
Injury concerns have impacted several top-ranked players, altering the landscape of the position. Atlanta Braves catcher Baldwin, who was having a fantastic start to the season and ranking among the league’s offensive leaders, is currently sidelined with an oblique injury. He is expected to be weeks away from returning to the lineup. Similarly, Minnesota Twins catcher Jeffers underwent hand surgery on 19 May 2026 and is set to miss the next two months of the season, ending what was described as a career year.
Other catchers have shown varied performance trends. Detroit Tigers catcher Dingler is tied for third in home runs among MLB catchers and remains the only Tiger with double-digit home runs, providing a crucial offensive spark for a struggling team. Baltimore Orioles catcher Rutschman continues a rejuvenated season, ranking as one of only two MLB catchers with nearly as many walks as strikeouts. Rookie Basallo is also drawing attention for his power, with projections suggesting he could reach 30 home runs by the season’s end. Goodman has been a volatile presence, tied for second in home runs but leading the group in strikeouts, while Kansas City’s Perez is tied for first among Royals hitters in home runs.
