Survey released post-trade deadline asks for division winner prediction and specific Washington postseason trajectory

Yahoo Sports has launched a weekly survey inviting NFL fans to predict the 2026 NFC East champion and the Washington Commanders’ specific postseason trajectory. The poll was released following the conclusion of the NFL free agency period, the draft, and early June 1st trades, with rosters considered set for training camp.

Participants are asked to identify the division winner from the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, or Washington Commanders. A second question requires fans to forecast the Commanders’ playoff fate, selecting from 11 options that combine seeding status (wildcard or division winner) with the round of elimination.

The survey outlines specific roster and coaching narratives for each NFC East team as of the current prediction window. Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is expected to lead an offense with elite passing metrics from 2025. Defensive coordinator Christian Parker and top-11 draft pick Caleb Downs are cited as key upgrades to a defence that allowed 511 points in the previous season.

New York Giants hired head coach John Harbaugh to establish a new culture. Free-agent signing Isaiah Likely is highlighted as an offensive upgrade for a unit that averaged 5.6 yards per play. Philadelphia Eagles retained defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and hired Sean Mannion as offensive coordinator. The team is noted for outgaining opponents by 5,341 total yards last season and throwing only seven interceptions.

Washington Commanders defensive coordinator Daronte Jones and offensive coordinator David Blough are introducing new schemes. Free-agent linebacker Leo Chenal is cited as a key addition to address a defence that allowed 26.5 points per game. The survey format allows fans to provide nuanced comments explaining their predictions, which will be analysed in a follow-up article.
