China’s President Xi Jinping is scheduled to arrive in Washington on 23 September for summit meetings the following day, according to Yahoo Finance. He is expected to depart on 25 September.

The reported agenda includes trade, tariffs, technology, artificial intelligence and tensions over Taiwan. Markets are expected to watch for any indication of tariff relief, progress on trade-balance discussions or changes to technology-export controls, although no agreement or policy shift has been confirmed.

The summit comes as long-term US Treasury yields approach 5%, a level the source says is weighing on equity valuations, particularly in growth and technology stocks. Any effect on yields or markets will depend on the outcome of the talks and broader economic conditions.

Investors will also receive preliminary September manufacturing and services PMI data on Wednesday, alongside crude-oil inventory figures. The data will offer an early reading on industrial activity, services demand and employment momentum heading into the final quarter.

Costco is due to report earnings on Thursday, providing another test of consumer spending, membership trends and retail resilience. The source also identifies Middle East tensions and related energy-market risks as factors that could influence oil prices, inflation expectations and monetary-policy considerations.
