Xbox has opened preorders for its 25th anniversary collection, a premium bundle priced at US$900. The limited-edition package features a translucent green Xbox Series X console, a matching wireless controller, and a digital download of Halo: Campaign Evolved. Each console is individually numbered with a unique engraving, and both the hardware components are stamped with an Xbox 25 logo to commemorate the milestone.

The price point represents a US$100 premium over the current standard Series X configuration, which is priced at US$800 and does not include a game or the special colourway. For those seeking a more accessible option, the anniversary controller is available for purchase separately at US$80. Microsoft has also announced partnerships with multiple accessory manufacturers to produce additional celebratory hardware, though specific partners have not yet been named.

Preorders are initially restricted to select "dedicated fans," with eligibility determined via email notification. General availability opens on 27 August at 10:00 AM ET. The console is scheduled to ship on 15 November, a date chosen to align with the 25th anniversary of the original Xbox launch in 2001. While the ongoing RAM crisis does not currently affect this specific bundle, supply conditions may shift before the shipping date.

The translucent green aesthetic is a nod to the franchise’s history, although the original 2001 console was primarily black with minor green accents. The see-through green design became prominent with a special edition console released in 2004. Notably, some members of the original design team received translucent green consoles in 2001, which included Bill Gates' signature, adding a layer of historical context to the current release.

For investors and industry observers, the bundle serves as a strategic move to re-engage the collector market and reinforce brand loyalty ahead of the holiday season. The inclusion of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a significant title for the platform, underscores Microsoft’s continued investment in its first-party software ecosystem. The premium pricing strategy suggests a focus on high-margin hardware sales rather than volume, a tactic that may influence broader capital markets perceptions of the gaming division’s performance.
