Whyte says foot injury preceded Itauma defeat as he targets Fisher bout
Dillian Whyte says he fractured his foot in training and again before his first-round loss to Moses Itauma. A proposed fight with Johnny Fisher remains at the verbal-agreement stage.

Dillian Whyte says he fought Moses Itauma with a fractured foot last August, after injuring it in training and reinjuring it while warming up before their bout in Saudi Arabia. Itauma stopped him in the opening round.
Whyte says a doctor advised him not to fight after the second fracture, but he chose to continue. The account has not been independently medically confirmed.
He said he had not previously discussed the injury because he did not want to detract from Itauma’s win. Whyte acknowledged that Itauma had landed punches and won the fight.
Whyte is now open to facing Johnny Fisher in November or December. Fisher called for the bout last week, and Whyte watched him beat Michael Pirotton by majority decision at the Copper Box Arena.
Whyte’s manager, Michael Ofo, says the teams agreed to the fight in principle with a handshake after Fisher’s win. No formal contract or schedule is reported.
