Custer finishes 30th at Kansas, earns seven points

Cole Custer finished 30th in the NASCAR Cup Series Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway, one place behind his starting position. The Yahoo Sports recap identifies him as a Haas Factory Team driver in the No. 41 Chevrolet.
Custer completed 266 laps, one lap fewer than race winner Kyle Larson, and earned seven points. According to the recap, those points count towards his overall season standing because he is not competing in the Chase.
The recap says Custer ran near the back of the field for much of the race and did not find enough speed to move substantially forward. It also says he avoided mechanical failure and a multi-car crash that affected other competitors, without detailing those incidents.
