Bath novice puts two first-time winners in focus
Divide and Conquer and Al Qayed bring the strongest previous form among the raced runners in the British EBF Future Stayers’ Novice Stakes.
Sky Sports previews a three-meeting card at Bath, Sedgefield and Wolverhampton, with its listed coverage beginning at 2.02pm on Tuesday. The feature at Bath is the British EBF Future Stayers’ Novice Stakes, where two-year-olds Divide and Conquer and Al Qayed are seeking their first win.
Al Qayed finished third on his second start, behind Quicken Away, who later placed third in the Royal Lodge. Sky Sports says he looked raw and may not have been suited by the heavy ground, while suggesting he could improve with experience.
Divide and Conquer finished second on debut after being bumped in the closing stages. The third horse in that race has since won at Haydock, according to the preview. The filly was bought for 320,000gns as a yearling.
The race’s recent history includes Hopewell Rock’s 2024 win and Item’s victory in 2025. Item later won the Juddmonte International. The preview does not report an outcome for this year’s contest.
