Weeks’ injury leaves LSU awaiting clearer defensive picture
The linebacker fractured his left leg against Texas A&M and is out indefinitely, with a return this season still only a possibility.
LSU linebacker Whit Weeks is out indefinitely after fracturing his left leg in the Tigers’ 35–6 win over Texas A&M, according to CBS Sports. He is expected to undergo surgery, after which the team expects more clarity on his recovery.
CBS Sports reports there is hope Weeks could return this season, potentially after four to six weeks. Neither that recovery window nor a return date is confirmed.
Weeks, a team captain and defensive signal-caller, was seen leaving the game on crutches and was later evaluated. Dahvon Keys stepped into the lineup and made six tackles in the win.
The injury adds to LSU’s absences among key contributors. Defensive back Dashawn Spears is out for the season, while tight end Trey’Dez Green is expected back at some point this season. Quarterback Sam Leavitt’s hamstring status was unchanged, coach Lane Kiffin said.
