Washington Football Coaches Make In-Home Visit to 3-Star edge rusher
Assistant coaches Jason Kaufusi and Aaron Van Horn meet with three-star edge rusher from Orem High School

Washington Huskies assistant coaches Jason Kaufusi and Aaron Van Horn conducted an in-home visit with Jag Ioane, a three-star edge rusher from Orem High School in Utah, prior to the recruit’s scheduled official visit with the university. The meeting occurred on a Monday, serving as a preliminary engagement before Ioane travels to the Pacific Northwest from 29 May to 1 June.

Ioane, ranked No. 16 in Utah and No. 99 nationally among edge rushers according to 247Sports, remains uncommitted but has drawn significant attention from collegiate programs. Washington became the first of 11 programs to extend a scholarship offer to the 6-foot-2, 185-pound defender, preceding offers from in-state schools BYU and Utah.

During his junior season, Ioane recorded 31 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one pass breakup over 10 games. Described as a speed edge rusher, he possesses the versatility to play as a standup outside linebacker or with his hand in the dirt as a defensive end.

The recruitment landscape for Ioane is competitive, with limited remaining spots in the 2027 defensive line cycle. He previously hosted coaches from Boise State, BYU, and Utah between April and May. Both BYU and Utah have official visits scheduled for Ioane, with the Cougars hosting him from 11–13 June and the Utes from 19–21 June.

Washington is hosting 12 official visitors during the final weekend in May, seven of whom are uncommitted. Ioane joins fellow uncommitted edge rusher Josh Christensen for the late May visit, while three-star edge Troy Mailo is scheduled to visit on 19 June. The Huskies currently hold two defensive line commitments in the 2027 class: Jon Ioane, who is not related to Jag, and Matamatagi Uiagalelei.
