Vollering secures second Tour de France Femmes title in Nice
Demi Vollering won the final stage in Nice to secure her second Tour de France Femmes title, finishing ahead of Poland’s Kasia Niewiadoma and Italy’s Elisa Longo Borghini.
Dutch cyclist Demi Vollering has secured her second Tour de France Femmes title, confirming her victory on 9 August 2026 after winning the final stage in Nice. The 29-year-old extended her overall lead over second-placed Polish rider Kasia Niewiadoma to seal the 2026 edition, having previously won the race in 2023.
Vollering established her dominance by timing her efforts across the final two stages, both of which concluded in Nice. She first claimed the overall lead on Saturday by attacking late on a small hill, securing an eight-second advantage over Niewiadoma. The Polish rider lodged a complaint that she had been blocked by a teammate of Vollering at a critical juncture, but race officials took no action.
The decisive moment arrived on the final stage, which featured four ascents of the Col d’Eze located just outside Nice. Vollering waited until the fourth climb to launch her attack, taking a 20-second lead near the summit before descending into the finish. She maintained her advantage to win the stage and cement her position at the top of the general classification.
Italian rider Elisa Longo Borghini finished third overall, capitalising on a misfortune for Swiss rider Marlen Reusser. Reusser fell on a descent during the final stage, losing a two-minute cushion that had placed her in contention for the podium.
In the classification battles, Dutch sprinter Lorena Wiebes secured the green sprint points jersey, largely due to her victories on the two opening stages. Her compatriot Puck Pieterse won the polka dot climb points jersey, completing a strong performance for the Netherlands in the 2026 race.
