Max Verstappen won the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia for Red Bull, securing his first victory of the season after a race disrupted by a reported software fault and a difficult call over tyres for a damp restart.

Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle said FIA software settings affected power delivery when cars travelled slowly during formation laps. The start was abandoned and, after officials rewrote code and applied a patch, the field restarted in its original grid order.

With parts of the circuit still wet, some Ferrari and McLaren drivers chose dry tyres while others opted for intermediates. Brundle said intermediates were faster in the early phase, as the track dried more slowly than expected.

Verstappen moved into the lead once the field switched to dry tyres and was not seriously challenged. Kimi Antonelli finished ahead of his main championship rivals and extended his lead to 84 points, Brundle reported.

Brundle also described long delays for fans leaving the venue, with roads gridlocked and transit buses blocked. The source identifies the event as the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
