Celtic midfielder Benjamin Nygren has withdrawn from Sweden’s squad after falling ill, ending his international window early. Sweden confirmed he was among four players ruled out through illness.

Nygren missed Sweden’s 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina and will also miss the match against Romania.

He had scored in Sweden’s 3-1 win over Poland earlier in the window. The source report gave no details of his illness or recovery timeline.

Celtic are due to face Motherwell on 11 October. Nygren’s availability for that match has not been confirmed.
