UFC to host 'Freedom 250' at White House amid heightened security protocols
The Ultimate Fighting Championship will stage seven bouts on the South Lawn on 14 June 2026, with attendance restricted to approximately 4,300 military personnel and their guests.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has confirmed it will host a major mixed martial arts event on the South Lawn of the White House on Sunday, 14 June 2026. Titled 'UFC Freedom 250', the gathering is scheduled to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 80th birthday of President Donald Trump.
UFC CEO Dana White, who describes the President as a close friend, stated the event is intended as a "thank you" to the military. The gathering is expected to be invite-only for approximately 4,300 attendees, the majority of whom will be military personnel. While general admission to the White House grounds is not available, free tickets will be distributed for viewing from the adjacent Ellipse park, with White indicating that around 85,000 tickets may be made available through a registration process.
The fight card features seven bouts, including two title fights. Ilia Topuria will defend the lightweight title against Justin Gaethje, while Alex Pereira will face Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title. The remainder of the card includes Sean O’Malley versus Aiemann Zahabi in the bantamweight division, Derrick Lewis against Josh Hokit in the heavyweight division, Mauricio Ruffy versus Michael Chandler in the lightweight division, Bo Nickal against Kyle Daukaus in the middleweight division, and Diego Lopes versus Steve Garcia in the featherweight division.
Pre-event activities will commence earlier in the week. A press conference is scheduled for Friday, 12 June at the Lincoln Memorial. On Saturday, 13 June, a fan festival will take place at the Ellipse, followed by a concert from the Zac Brown Band. The ceremonial weigh-in is also set for that evening, preceding the main event which begins at 17:00 Pacific Time (01:00 BST Monday).
Security arrangements remain a focal point given the location. White previously visited the White House roof and noted the presence of snipers and significant Secret Service protocols. The event follows an incident in late April at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where President Trump was targeted by an alleged shooter. White, who was present at that dinner, described the subsequent chaos and the security response in detail.
Broadcast coverage will be available on Paramount+, CBS, TNT Sports, and HBO Max. The event underscores the ongoing intersection between professional sports and political institutions, with the UFC utilising the White House grounds to mark a significant national milestone.
