UFC 329: McGregor to Face Holloway in Las Vegas Following White House Event
UFC president Dana White confirms Conor McGregor’s return after a five-year layoff, headlining UFC 329 against Max Holloway at T-Mobile Arena.

UFC president Dana White has confirmed that Conor McGregor will end a five-year absence from the octagon by headlining UFC 329 on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The 37-year-old Irish fighter will face former featherweight champion Max Holloway in a five-round welterweight bout, marking a rematch of their 2013 contest which McGregor won by decision. The event is scheduled during International Fight Week and follows UFC Freedom 250, held on June 14 at the White House in Washington, D.C., establishing a historic back-to-back premium event schedule for the promotion.
The announcement caps a three-event run that White describes as among the best in the organisation’s history. UFC Freedom 250 featured Ilia Topuria defending his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje, and Alex Pereira fighting Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight crown. The White House event also included Hall of Fame inductions for Demetrious Johnson, Dominick Cruz, and Chris Weidman as part of the International Fight Week celebrations.
McGregor enters the bout as a heavy betting underdog. The rematch is described as being 13 years in the making, with McGregor holding a 2013 decision victory over Holloway. Questions remain regarding McGregor’s stamina and fighting spirit at this stage of his career, as he looks to secure his first win since a 40-second loss to Donald Cerrone in 2020.
UFC 329 features a star-studded card including Paddy Pimblett, Robert Whittaker, Leon Edwards, Cory Sandhagen, Brandon Royval, and Benoit Saint Denis. The co-main event of UFC 329 features Pimblett against Saint Denis, while the main card begins with the UFC debut of 2020 Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson against Elisha Ellison.
Rumours persist regarding a potential return of pound-for-pound king Islam Makhachev at UFC 330 in August, possibly defending his welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry in Philadelphia. The upcoming summer schedule represents a significant moment for the promotion, combining high-profile political spectacle with elite athletic competition.
